Since 2001 Brad and his wife Narelle have run Transmutation in Robe, South Australia. Initially established as a transport and consulting company, Brad pivoted in 2016 to a relief management service, before settling down as a craft recycling and manufacturing business with a focus on sustainability and environmentally friendly products.
They were forced to close for four weeks during the pandemic lockdowns in the first half of 2020, and Brad used this time to build an online platform for his products. This stabilised sales and allowed them to weather the storm.
Brad and the team at Transmutation have had a longstanding commitment to renewable products, making all their machines from old ovens and repurposed carjacks. The business reduces landfills by two tonnes a year through its recycling.
They also contribute to the Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs charity which provides a wheelchair to someone every two months through their donations.
And Transmutation sponsors the local Health & Wellness Festival, the Southern Ocean Art Prize, and provides raffles for the school fair.
Brad’s adaptation during the turbulence of 2020 has allowed Transmutation to continue to provide for the local community. They’re now looking forward to a new collaboration with Country Road launching in October.Back to Local Stories
